Kseniya Simonova – Sand Animation on Ukraine’s Got Talent

This is an incredible piece of animation by the 2009 winner of the Ukraine “Got Talent” television series, Kseniya Simonova. Refreshing to see an original, emotionally stirring piece of creative doing so well.

It tells the story of life during WWII, which explains the emotional reactions of some of the audience. But you don’t need to speak the language to see the story. The text at the end where they’re staring at the sailor’s ghost says: “You are always nearby”.

The 24-yr-old atist’s prize was 1,000,000 Ukrainian hryvnia (April 2009, approximately US $125,000).

So far the main YouTube site has around 790,000 views as it reaches the global audience.

A bit etch-a-sketch, a bit Rolf in places, but utterly mesmerizing and pure genius by the artisit.
