For those of us a touch tired with the cliched snow and ice imagery that drives the snow and ice based Olympics at us….the BBC trailer presents an interesting alternative.

Not sure what the coverage will be like though…

Gatorade Replay Project

Gatorade has taken on the sports giants at their own game.

A really interesting idea is detailed above. It gets to the honesty of sports passion in a way that many others haven’t.

The game was the 104th meeting between two of the nations biggest high school football rivals and settled their 1993 game that ended in a 7-7 tie. The Easton, Pa., vs. Phillipsburg, N.J., game has been played annually since 1906 on Thanksgiving Day, drawing crowds of more than 20,000 fans each year.

After undergoing an intensive 10-week training and conditioning program developed by the Gatorade Sports Science Institute and Velocity Sports Performance, the athletes, now in their early 30s, donned their helmets, strapped on their shoulder pads and laced up their cleats to participate in a full-contact, regulation game in front of a sold out crowd just as they had 15 years earlier.

XBox Halo 3 “We are ODST” full trailer with translation

The above trailer for the new Halo 3 XBOX game is featured in an earlier post. “Halo 3 ODST The Life” Live Action Trailer for XBox 360 as the original first release version.

But, as it gains more traction through a 30″ cut-down TV ad, social media and advertising sites are delving into the details.

The above on YouTube now features translations as the insatiable appetite from Halo fans is appeased.

Here’s some more background released as the game is released on the 22nd September….

Directed by Rupert Sanders.

Special effects: Stan Winston Studios

Tentative Hungarian translation, NOT Russian (as fans are keen to point out!):

Trainer: Left face!

Trainer: Present arms!

Trainer: FIRE!

Trainer (when hair is shaved): Attention!

Trainer: TARKOV! You call that attention?! Drop and give me 30! Now!

Trainer (when yelling during obstacle course): Do you want to die?! Do you?! Faster! Go go go!

The song roughly translates to:

“And my army of brothers went over the hilltops, drenched in blood we may be… but fighting is all left to me… together with my army of brothers… down we fall… darkness in all… through hell!”

If anything this shows the power of the franchise and fan base, leaving no stone unturned as the game hits the shelves…

“Halo 3 ODST The Life” Live Action Trailer for XBox 360

A new video / ad / viral has been released for the launch of Halo 3: ODST by Microsoft for the Xbox 360

It is a new game and prequel in the Halo saga that lets people experience events leading up to the epic story told in Halo 3 through the eyes of an ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Trooper).

Halo 3 is a global franchise that many over the age of 18 are unaware of.

The original Halo 3 grossed $300 million in week one making it the envy of studios worldwide.

By March of this year an estimated 1 Billion on-line matches had been played.

Sequels and prequels have sustained the franchises appeal. In short it is a global phenomenon for Xbox and the developers Bungie.

This trailer has now firmly stepped over the line of fantasy into reality as we see live action and game action blur. Striking stuff!

A very real taste of the future of CGI, gaming and movie development and a demonstration of the new economics in the entertainment industry

Heath Ledgers “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” new trailer

The sudden death of Heath Ledger playing the lead in The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus left director Terry Gilliam trying to find a means of salvaging the film.

Job done in the form of Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell, who each serve as alternate-dimension versions of the Ledger’s character when he crosses through a paranormal mirror.

Apparently their fees went to Heath’s daughter and early reviews are promising.

Another booking for October…

New Coen Brothers A Serious Man trailer.

The Coen Brothers are seriously good film makers.

Not to mention the inclusion of some fantastic eyewear (from a personal pov).

A Serious Man is the story of an ordinary mans search for clarity in a universe with a Jefferson Airplane soundtrack. Its 1967, and Larry Gopnik (Michael Stuhlbarg), a physics professor at a quiet Midwestern university, has just been informed by his wife Judith (Sari Lennick) that she is leaving him.

She has fallen in love with one of his colleagues, Sy Ableman (Fred Melamed), who seems to her a more substantial person than the feckless Larry.

Larrys unemployable brother Arthur (Richard Kind) is sleeping on the couch, his son Danny (Aaron Wolf) is a discipline problem and a shirker at Hebrew school, and his daughter Sarah (Jessica McManus) is filching money from his wallet in order to save up for a nose job.

And that is only the tip of his desperate ice-berg.

I’m booking a seat for October.
